The Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque, or Iron Mosque is the second principal mosque in Putrajaya, Malaysia after Putra Mosque. It is located in Putrajaya's Presint 3, next to Millenium Monument. It was officially opened on Friday at the eve of the month of Ramadhan 1430 Hijrah.
The official name of Iron Mosque (Masjid Besi) is Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque. The name of the mosque was derived from the fact that it was built using approximately 6,000 tonnes of steel, or seventy percent of the entire building; the rest is concrete. The mosque is able to accommodate up to 20,000 people at one time.
My High Dynamic Range's magic amazingly touched by its architectural background. The mosque's area is twice that of Putra Mosque. The mosque was designed based on three concepts; wind, simplicity and transparency.

The main entrance is reinforced with Glass Reinforced Concrete to increase the integrity of the structure.
The entrance uses fine glass to create an illusion of a white mosque from afar.

The interior is decorated with calligraphy of Al-Asmaul-Husna. The entrance to the main prayer hall is adorned with verse 80 of Sura Al-Isra from the Quran.
The grand interior of Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque. Notice the dome is made of iron.

A reflection pool, a shallow pool of water, quite calming. It inspires solemnity and, as its name implies, reflection.

A view from inside of the mosque; Monorail Suspension Bridge, is an elegant, futuristic bridge that links Precinct 4 to Precinct 7.

The khat is inscribed onto the back of the anti-reflective glass, giving a sense of verses floating down from the sky.

A view of the Kiblat Walk heading towards Perbadanan Putrajaya and the Palace of Justice from the mosque.
Pedestrian access to the mosque from the Palace of Justice and Perbadanan Putrajaya is provided through the Kiblat Walk.

The Mihrab.
The Mihrab wall made of high glass panel inscribed with 2 verses from Sura Al-Baqarah on the right-hand side and Sura Ibrahim on the left. The mihrab wall is designed so that no light will be reflected, creating an illusion that the verses are floating on air.

aku tringin sgt nk solat kat mesjid nih..dlu mase aku blaja kat upm, mesjid xsiap lg..
one day sure akan pagi cni..
Aki dah pernah solat sini beberapa kali. Memang penuh kalau time semayang jumaat. Semayang terawikh tahun ni pun tak kurang hebatnya.
Mungkin ramai suka solat disini sebab selesa dan luas. Lagipun, Putrajaya memang perlukan masjid kedua ni sebab jumlah penduduk disini bukannya sikit.
Apa pun, Aki mmg suka seni bina yg ditonjolkan. Memang menarik dan memukau nak2 kalau di lihat pada waktu malam.. tak kiralah.. dari jauh atau dalam masjid. Malam pula mmg sejuk betul nak nak setelah hujan turun.
aZizol, one day sure sampai punya :) mmg cantik sangat masjid besi ni.
Aki, senibina dia mmg mengagumkan! ^_^ mmg tak payah pakai air-con pun dah sejuk, kalau waktu hujan lagilaa sejuk! ^_^
