CEO & Celebrity Charity Tennis

CEO & Celebrity Charity Tennis is a unique fund raising event using the game of tennis as the attraction. It was held yesterday, 13 December 2009, for the second year at the National Tennis Complex, Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur. The event drew an enthusiastic response from some of the brightest stars in Malaysian business and entertainment. And for a good cause, too. They raised funds for charity while playing in the second CEO and Celebrity Charity Tennis tournament. The event, jointly organised by The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad and Bursa Malaysia. It was held in conjunction with the ECM Libra Foundation-Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM) Junior Tennis Championship.

I feel glad, thankful and personally thanking them to be a part of their charity effort, by promoting the event in my blog. I strongly believe that this kind of charity event can now look forward to helping more children with heart problems and other medical disorders in our country Malaysia. Besides, this event had gained momentum with more celebrities taking part.

The tournament is for the captain of the industries, for example, Chairman, board members, CEO as well as well known celebrities from the various fields; entertainment, sports and etc, who joined together to assist the organiser to raise for NSTP Charity Fund. There is no entry fees imposed but players are expected to contribute to the NSTP Charity Fund whatever amount they want to.

The main objective of the CEO and Celebrity Charity Tennis are to raise funds for the NSTP Charity Fund, to help young Malaysians who have serious medical problems, to revise the interest in tennis among young generations by showing the involvement of successful personalities in the sport and to provide platform for corporate networking via social and leisure sport activity.

NSTP Charity Fund is a trust setup by NSTP in 1991, to help deserving Malaysian children who needed financial aid for treatment on heart problems, leukemia and cancer. It also helped the disabled to acquire artificial limbs and legs. As mentioned earlier, they need to raise for NSTP Charity Fund to help young Malaysians who have serious medical problems. And it is hoped that this event will be one of the platforms to collect more fund.

Funds for charity while playing.
That's the beauty of this tournament!

Below, the stars are working for a good cause! They have benefited from their effort. They had a lot of fun for NSTP's charity. Participating in the charity events and community outreach programs, are always exciting for them. For me, once their status becomes very visible, it is important to use that visibility to attract really good causes.

Seelan Paul, the Chief Operating Officer, Radio Networks, Media Prima Berhad, he is also involved in this charity event. Other celebrities are Jojo Struys and Soo Kui Jien (Ex Malaysian Idol Host).

All the participants were able to contribute to charity. They enjoyed every moment and they will play again. It is hoped that future tournaments of this charity event would receive more support and would be held regularly to benefit needy children.

Players were looking at their result for the first round of the game.

The first result for the first round of the game determines the qualification of each players to the next round. It's time for the second round!

The game continue.

Friends and family get together and enjoy the game.

Rahid Salleh, tossing the ball into the air passionately. The breaking serve plays a crucial role in a match!

Among the sponsors of the CEO and Celebrity Charity Tennis 2009 were Revive, Dunlop, NTV7 and Dorsett Regency.
