Astronomers and skygazers across the world are keeping watch on Monday night for a rare astronomical phenomenon as two of the brightest naked-eye planets, Venus and Jupiter, join a thin crescent moon to create a brief "unhappy face" in the sky.

Astronomers refer to this rare phenomenon as an "occultation," taken from the Latin word occultare, which means "to conceal”. Astronomers said that Venus and Jupiter had appeared side by side in the evening sky over the past week or so, but Monday night would be the best night to see the "face" appear. The moon appearing closer to the "eyes" formed by the planets. While the planets and moon appear to be close together, in reality they're not. The moon is 250,000 miles away, while Venus is 93 million miles away and Jupiter 540 million miles away.

kejadian ni berlaku pd 1/12/08 mlm selasa. selepas kejadian tu, asik slalu dok tgk langit je tiap² mlm. ^_^ huuu.........
